Jennifer Lawrence Supports Catt Sadler

Jennifer Lawrence is showing her support for Catt Sadler after the longtime E! News host announced she left the TV network upon learning her male costar earned almost double her salary.

"Thank you Catt for sharing your story," Lawrence wrote on Facebook and shared Sadler's blog post explaining why she left E!.

Sadler, who's been with E! for 12 years, said it was "alarming" when she learned of "a massive disparity in pay" between herself and a "similarly situated male co-host." Sadler says she has two decades of experience and started at E! the same year as her costar, but he still made "close to double" her salary "for the past several years." She doesn't identify the costar by name, it's believed to be her fellow E! host Jason Kennedy.

Even when she fought for a higher pay, Sadler said, she was turned down. "My team and I asked for what I know I deserve and were denied repeatedly," she wrote.

Lawrence has also spoken out about the gender pay gap, and how it affected her own career. In 2015, she penned an op-ed for Lenny Letter titled "Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?" where she talked about facing the double standard at work.

"Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale, and Bradley Cooper all fought and succeeded in negotiating powerful deals for themselves. If anything, I'm sure they were commended for being fierce and tactical, while I was busy worrying about coming across as a brat and not getting my fair share," she wrote.

She also made sure she was paid properly for her work in, Mother!. "I just knew what I deserved and I fought for that," she said.

Lawrence isn't the only one who's supported Sadler in the wake of her exit from E!. Her fellow actress Jessica Chastain also reacted to the "disappointing" news and chastised the network for not compensating the host fairly.
