How the Royal Family Honored Prince William on His 37th Birthday

July 2024 · 3 minute read

Prince William turns 37 today, and the royal family has wasted no time in sharing well-wishes for him on social media. The royals usually post loving messages for birthday celebrants in the family, and there was no exception for the second in line for the throne.

Clarence House, the official residence of William's father Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, went the nostalgic route with a vintage father-son photo. The image, posted to Instagram, shows a young William in overalls and tiny buckled shoes being pushed in a swing by his dad.

The @RoyalFamily account, the official handle for the queen and other senior members of the family, shared a slideshow of Prince William throughout his life, including a few sweet moments with Her Majesty.

"Happy Birthday to The Duke of Cambridge! 🎂#HappyBirthdayHRH," the caption reads. "The Duke of Cambridge is second in line to the throne. His Royal Highness undertakes a number of charitable activities and projects, and carries out public and official duties in support of The Queen, in the UK and overseas, alongside The Duchess of Cambridge."

A similar post was shared on Twitter, too.

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York and Prince William's uncle, also shared a cute throwback. His image is from 1986, showing him and the young Duke of Cambridge exploring a helicopter together.

"At the time, Prince Andrew was serving as a Flight Pilot on the ship," the caption reads. "Prince William also trained a helicopter pilot and served as a Search and Rescue Pilot in the RAF and later as an Air Ambulance Pilot.⁣"

Kensington Palace, Prince William and Kate Middleton's official household, thanked all of the birthday well-wishers with an Instagram post of the Duke of Cambridge. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left a sweet note in the comments via their official account, @SussexRoyal. "Happy Birthday to The Duke of Cambridge!" they wrote.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex leave a birthday message for Prince William on Instagram.

We're sure the celebrations for the Duke of Cambridge went beyond Instagram posts and comments, but it's sweet to see the royals share birthday tributes for each other on social media—just like we do for our own loved ones.
