Heidi Cruz can’t catch a break. Ted Cruz elbowed his wife smack in the face after dropping out of the 2016 presidential race on Tuesday, May 3.

The former Republican candidate, 45, went in to hug his team — including his father, Rafael Cruz — and accidentally hit his wife in the process before bringing her into the group hug.

During the Texas senator’s campaign for the GOP nomination, GOP front-runner Donald Trump took aim at the 43-year-old Goldman Sachs managing director in March by posting a meme that compared Heidi to his glamorous wife, Melania Trump

Not surprisingly, Ted took offense to the former Apprentice star’s comment about Heidi and called for his opponent to leave her alone.

As previously reported, the junior senator dropped out of the race after Trump won the Indiana primary with 53.7 percent of the vote.

“With a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign. But hear me now, I am not suspending our fight for liberty,” Ted told supporters in Indianapolis of his decision.
