Keala Settle Starred In 'All My Life'

The Greatest Showman was released in 2017 and told the amazing story of Hugh Jackman's character P.T. Barnum.

After appearing in this beloved movie, Keala Settle starred in the heartbreaking movie All My Life, which was released in 2020.

The movie follows Sol (Harry Shum Jr.) and Jenn (Jessica Rothe), a young couple who fall in love and then realize that Sol is dying of cancer. They want to get married before that happens, and the story is definitely a tearjerker.

Keala Settle played the part of barista Viv Lawrence.

Keala Settle spoke about All My Life and said that she didn't know much about the actual story behind the movie.

In an interview with We Live Entertainment, Keala said that she learned more about what happened to the real-life couple. She shared, "I was really intrigued by that because I love true stories, because everyone has a story. And I the biggest cheerleader for learning from other people and connecting."

Keala also shared that her mom died and she felt that appearing in the movie was a way to "honor" the real-life couple and also what her mom went through. Keala explained, "You have to just live with hope every second of every day, and that’s what this movie is about."

Decider.com reported that All My Life is based on the relationship between Jennifer Carter and Solomon Chau who lived in Toronto. Solomon had liver cancer and the couple got married in April 2015. He tragically passed away four months later when he was only 26 years old.

Keala Settle Performed In 'Rent Live'

Keala Settle performed in Fox's Rent after she appeared in The Greatest Showman.

Keala joined Vanessa Hudgens, Jordan Fisher, and Brandon Victor Dixon to star in Fox's live TV show of the beloved and popular musical. Broadway.com reported that Keala would be the solo singer who performs "Seasons Of Love."

Keala told Broadway Box that she watched Rent in Las Vegas in 2000 or 1999, and she shared the huge impact that it had on her: "I realized I was being introduced to what NYC was all about during that time. It was an experience that made me want to BE in Manhattan…something I thought at the time was so far from my reality."

Besides allowing fans to hear Keala Settle's amazing singing voice and praise her talent, Keala Settle's performance also became memorable because Keala Settle had a stroke. People reported that she had a mini-stroke and found out that she needed brain surgery in April 2018 as she has Moyamoya disease. Keala shared that she is "grateful to be alive" and she is able to "find the joy in things I never could."

How does Keala feel about the role and song that brought her so much fame?

According to Cinemablend.com, Keala shared that while she enjoys performing the song "This Is Me," she has felt some other emotions. The actress and singer explained, "It's interesting, that part was a great opportunity, and I'm forever grateful. But there is a certain sense of dread every time I get asked to sing it. People now expect me to sing it every time I perform."

Keala said it's great singing the song for people as "they come because they feel like they are part of the song and its spirit."

Keala Settle has also starred on some TV shows. The actress played Christina Winters, Destiny's adoptive mom in Big Shot, the Disney+ series featuring John Stamos.
