This year HBO's hit comedy-drama Girls turned ten. The Lena Dunham-created show revolutionized the TV landscape when it premiered on April 15, 2012.

Girls stars Dunham as 20-something struggling writer Hannah Horvath, who has yet to face adulthood thanks to her parent's allowance. When she is told that she has been financially cut-off two years after graduating from a liberal arts college, she faces growing up in the harsh realities of New York City.

At the time, Dunham described Girls as a series for women who grew up watching Sex and the City and thought that “their s***** boyfriend whose bed is on the floor is their Mr. Big.” It touched a certain generation in a similar way to the Sarah Jessica Parker-led drama, although it led to multiple controversies as well as iconic quips and beloved

The popular show ended in 2017 after six seasons, 19 Emmy nominations (and two Emmy wins), turning many of the cast members into staff. So, what happened to the cast once this HBO hit ended?

8 Lena Dunham's Career As A Director

Lena Dunham created, wrote, produced and directed Girls. Once it ended in 2017, she directed an episode of HBO’s Industry in 2020 before debuting her third feature film Sharp Stick at the Sundance Film Festival in 2022. She adapted Karen Cushman's novel Catherine, Called Birdy for Amazon Prime this year. She also wrote episodes of and produced Camping and Generation.

Dunham had a small role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood and appeared in High Maintenance as herself. She has also had roles in Honeydew, American Horror Story, and The Stand-In.

7 Adam Driver's Meteoric Rise To The A-List

Adam Driver is probably the most successful cast member of Girls, playing Hannah's geek and unusual boyfriend, Adam. He soon went into movies after his star began to rise.

He appeared in Inside Llewyn Davis, While We’re Young, and This Is Where I Leave You before the show ended. He really hit the big time with his role as Ben in the new Star Wars trilogy. Driver has managed to mix work with auteurs like Jim Jarmush, Noah Baumbach and Spike Lee with iconic directors like Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott and Steven Soderbergh.

Next time you will see it will be in Baumbach adaptation of Don DeLillo’s White Noise, as well as Beck/Woods’sci-fi project “65.” The Oscar nominee is also set to play Enzo Ferrari in the biopic of the Ferrari family, written and directed by Michael Mann and co-starring Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley.

6 Allison William's Role In Iconic Jordan Peele Movie

After playing Hannah's uptight and passive-aggressive, Allison Williams played up this character in Jordan Peele's Oscar-winning film Get Out. She also appeared in A Series of Unfortunate Events and r the TV movie Peter Pan Live! playing the titular character.

Horror was never far away for Williams, as she led the Netflix film The Perfection in 2018 and will soon be seen in the horror-thriller M3GAN about a realistic doll that comes to life.

Jemima Kirke isn't just Dunham's fictional best friend, but is also a real-life BFF with the director and actress. Jemima Kirke has recently appeared as headmistress Hope Haddon in Netflix’s Sex Education and as Melissa in the adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Conversations With Friends for Hulu, alongside Joe Alwyn, Alison Oliver, and Sasha Lane.

Kirke has continued her art and has appeared in music videos for the likes of Alex Cameron, Mick Jagger and Zayn Malik.

4 The Flight Attendant Star Zosia Mamet

Her character Shosanna was only supposed to be a guest star, but Zosia Mamet became a fan-favorite. After appearing on Girls, she starred in The Boy Downstairs and Under the Silver Lake, as well as TV roles in You’re the Worst and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

More recently, Mamet played Louisa May Alcott in AppleTV+’s Dickinson and appeared in the Netflix revival of Tales of the City. She has recently found success playing Annie in The Flight Attendant alongside Kaley Cuoco.

Christopher Abbott played Marnie’s boyfriend Charlie in the first two seasons of Girls, before returning for a standalone episode in Season 5. Since leaving the comedy-drama he has had a successful movie career.

His film roles include A Most Violent Year, Black Bear, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and Possessor. He didn't leave TV behind, leading shows like The Sinner and Catch-22. Currently, Abbott is filming Marvel’s Kraven the Hunter opposite Ariana DeBose, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Russell Crowe. Ebon Moss-Bachrach was best known for playing Desi on Girls. Recently, you may have seen him as Richard "Richie" Jerimovich in the drama series The Bear and as Arvel Skeen in Andor.

Since Girls, the actor has also starred in the Marvel series The Punisher, The Dropout NOS4A2 and Interrogation.
